Vintage set of children’s dishes made by Pfaltzgraff, featuring the famous Thelwell Pony made infamous by cartoonist Norman Thelwell in the 1960s. The set includes a plate, bowl and cup all with different Thelwell images, white base with red trim. Plate has a little rider trying to urge his pony to jump across a stream of water, signed Thelwell under the image; The cereal bowl has the image of our rebellious pony stopping short so his little rider catapults off and (hopefully) into the trampoline being held by his parents, Thelwell signature under the image; Cute little mug shows Thelwell eating his show ribbon hungrily, signed “T” under the image. The bottom of the cup is imprinted with the traditional Pfaltgraff pottery mark and the number 276 then CS. Excellent condition, sold as a set of 3 only, c1960s. Plate measures 8 ½ inches wide, bowl measures 6 inches wide and cup measures 3 ¼ inches wide.
