Description
A lovely little foal figurine munching on hay in dimensional artistry. This is a piece from California-based Cemar Pottery in operation between 1935 and 1955, creating artistic pottery that is highly collectible today. This foal design was created by Fred Kaye, a well-known artist and clay designer at the time. Hand glazed and fired in the signature two-tone colors of rose and spring green, stamped Cemar on the bottom of the base, very good condition with a couple of notes: There is a chip on the top of the mane at the point of the withers, it has been painted over to reduce the look; there is a tiny surface crack  (perhaps just the glaze) along the  bottom of all the feet, not broken but they look like an area that is more prone to weakness and the right front has a teeny pock mark (see pics). C1950s, measures 6 ½ inches long x 2 ¾ inches wide x 5 inches tall.
