Description
This rare hardcover edition of Silver Saddles, first published in 1943, tells the tale of a fifteen year old boy, with a flare for horses, who wins his right to be the one to go some three hundred miles to bring back a valuable racer to his father’s Mexican ranch. The horse, Cimarron, has been used only for quarter mile racing; he has to be broken to the long stretch of steady going, and to answering signals of bridle and voice. But his young rider wins his confidence and they start off, alone, facing desert and lonely mountain stretches, where horse thieves and desperadoes would give much for the possession of the beautiful golden horse. Illustrated by Addison Burbank, published by Longmans Green & Co, hardcover with 262 pages, this is a retired library book. Good condition with the following notes: The original dust cover is missing, starting at page 260 the pages have separated from the cloth of the spine (not loose, but there is separation), stamps and book card holders from the library on the inside and back covers.
